The federal Food and Drug Administration recommends having the following items in your medicine cabinet to battle winter illnesses and other health mishaps:
- Analgesic, to relieve pain.
- Antacid, to relieve upset stomach.
- Antibiotic ointment, to reduce risk of infection.
- Antihistamine, to relieve allergy symptoms.
- Antiseptic, to help stop infection.
- Decongestant, to relieve stuffy nose and other cold symptoms.
- Fever reducer, for adults and children.
- Hydrocortisone, to relieve itching and inflammation.
- Adhesive bandages.
- Adhesive tape.
- Alcohol wipes.
- Measuring spoon.
- Disinfectant.
- Gauze pads.
- Thermometer.
- Tweezers.
